First-Year Students

Your Future Starts Here

The UIC Orientation for first-year students is a two-day overnight Orientation designed to acquaint you with UIC, ensure your success by providing information and up-to-date resources, and provide you with your first opportunity to meet with an academic advisor.

When making travel arrangements, please be aware that all activities are mandatory and students may neither arrive late nor leave early. An overnight stay is required for the first-year program. We will provide on-campus overnight accommodations for each student.

Accessibility Assistance

We pride ourselves in making UIC as inclusive and accessible as possible. If you or a family member requires arrangements in order to participate in the orientation program, please notify the UIC Orientation program at least seven days prior to your orientation date at 312-996-3271. Students with disabilities are encouraged to begin the registration process as soon as possible to ensure that appropriate accommodations are approved before classes begin.

If you are seeking disability-related accommodations, you are encouraged to contact the Disability Resource Center (DRC) at 312-413-2183 or to learn about the university services available to you. Any request for accommodations must be accompanied by documentation indicating diagnosis of disability and how it limits participation in the educational environment. More information on the DRC and the registration process is available at
