Placement Testing

First-Year Students

Your Future Starts Here

The UIC Orientation for first-year students is a two-day overnight Orientation designed to acquaint you with UIC, ensure your success by providing information and up-to-date resources, and provide you with your first opportunity to meet with an academic advisor.

When making travel arrangements, please be aware that all activities are mandatory and students may neither arrive late nor leave early. An overnight stay is required for the first-year program. We will provide on-campus overnight accommodations for each student.

Placement Testing

First-year students are required to take placement tests. If you need to take placement tests, you must do so before you can schedule an orientation date. To determine your required placement tests, log into the Portal, go to the UIC Connect tab. The “Required Placement Tests” portal contains pertinent information about the placement testing process. You must complete all required placement tests online.

Students who fail to take placement tests will not be able to register for orientation which impacts the ability to register for classes. Please take the time to respond accurately to the questionnaire regarding testing in my.uic.edu and then take all required tests.
