Family Orientation

The UIC Orientation program for family members and guests is meant for you to ask questions, navigate the university, find appropriate resources and talk through any challenges your student may face here at UIC.

Please discuss with your student when they plan to attend orientation. If any family or guests plan to attend orientation, it should be on the same day as the student. We highly encourage that your student registers all family members and guests through the orientation portal at Available orientation dates are dependent upon the student’s academic program.

A fee of $75 for each family member and guest will be charged to the student’s university bill at the conclusion of the current orientation season. Please plan accordingly for this charge to post to the student’s account prior to their start at UIC.

Please note: We have a very specific Program Date Change or Cancellation Policy, which can be found in the Policies section of our website and in your UIC Orientation mailer.

Please touch base with your student as they will receive very specific information related to the orientation program via their UIC email. Additional information about the programs can be found on this website or in the UIC mailer your student will receive.

It is important to note that aspects of the orientation program will have families and guests follow a concurrent but separate program from the students. These sessions are designed to address your specific needs and concerns as families and guests. You will not be allowed to attend academic advising and registration with your student.

The UIC Orientation program for family members and guests is a one-day event, regardless if the student is a transfer or first-year student. We are unable to provide overnight accommodations for families and guests during our first-year student two-day program. If you are visiting from out-of-town and unsure what to do during your visit?
