Mission of UIC Orientation

To provide new students and their families with a comprehensive introduction to the University of Illinois at Chicago; to assist new students in their transition to the university; to help students integrate into academic life at the university; and to make connection points with other attendees and current UIC students.

Outcomes for New Students

Students who attend our programs should leave with:

  • A familiarity with campus and its resources
  • A sense of connectedness to their peers and pride for UIC
  • A streamlined transition to collegiate life
  • A completed and confirmed academic schedule
  • A chance to socialize with current students, faculty and staff
  • An awareness and appreciation of diversity and inclusion
  • A printed UIC ID card

Outcomes for Family Members and Guests

Family members and guests who attend our programs should leave with:

  • A familiarity with campus and its resources
  • An understanding of how to best support their student at UIC
  • An introduction to the academic college of their student
  • A chance to socialize with current students, faculty and staff
  • An understanding of campus policies, procedures, and safety
