New Student Fee
All new, undergraduate first-year and transfer students will be assessed the New Student Fee as part of their first semester tuition and fees. The only students exempt from this fee are individuals who are in a fully online program or a non-degree seeking program.
For new students who begin in the FALL SEMESTER, the fee will be $250 for first-year students and $150 for transfer students. For new students who begin in the SPRING SEMESTER, the fee will be $150 for first-year students and $150 for transfer students. The New Student Fee covers the costs of the student's participation in new student orientation programs, as well as additional programming throughout the year focused on easing the transition to the UIC community. Additional programs include, but are not limited to, New Student Convocation, Weeks of Welcome, and Family Weekend.

Students that attend a UIC Orientation program, but later decide not to attend UIC, will not be charged the New Student Fee. However, these students who attend UIC Orientation (or register and do not cancel within the 7-day window), but do not enroll at UIC will be charged an Orientation Cancellation Fee of $100 to cover the cost of participation in these programs. The fee will be charged to the student’s account following the enrollment deadline for the academic term for which they were admitted.
